Dr Aparna Murkherjee is working as Senior Scientist (Medical) and In-charge of Clinical Studies, Trials & Projection Unit at Epidemiology & Communicable Diseases Division, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi. She completed her MBBS and MD (Paediatrics) from Medical College, Kolkata and she was awarded PhD (Paediatrics ) by AIIMS, Delhi. Dr Murkherjee is program officer of various Clinical Trails projects ongoing in ICMR. She is also program officer for Multi-Disciplinary Research Units (MRUs) and Model Rural Health Research Units (MRHRUs) scheme of Department Health Research and she is supervising 80 MRUs and 25 MRHRUs located in different medical colleges across the country. Her responsibility also includes to perform various COVID-19 research studies and she successfully completed Randomized control trial on convalescent plasma (PLACID Trial) for COVID-19 as Principal Investigator and she is coordinating ongoing National Clinical Registry of COVID-19 and other COVID-19 related studies.
Dr Mukherjee has very long research career and also she worked at AIIMS Delhi in various capacity as Research Officer, Senior Research Officer and Senior Scientist. She is recipient of prestigious Early Career Fellow – Wellcome Trust/ India Alliance.
She has published more than 60 peer reviewed research articles in various reputed journals and 06 book chapters and she presented her more than 50 research work in national/international conferences on Paediatric Pulmonology, Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Tuberculosis, HIV, Clinical trial, COVID-19.
